The 2023 Oestrich Riesling trocken Quarzit opens beautifully aromatic, almost like a Muscat mutation, and pairs these bright and inviting aromas with spicy-mineral notes of crushed stones with lots of quartzite and salts. Round and juicy on the palate, with savory grip and tension, this is a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and intense Riesling with substance, power and fine tannins as well as an aromatic finish. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.

The 2023 Riesling Oestricher Quarzit was picked chiefly in the deeper soils of Doosberg, with smaller portions of Lenchen and Klosterberg. A flicker of reduction has a notion of chamomile, with gentle lift and a lemon edge. The palate is smooth, sleek, fluid and rounded, with an undeniable sense of earthy depth, well-bounded generosity and verticality. This presents a lot substance in a shapely package. (Bone-dry)
