The 2018 Savigny-Dominode 1er Cru feels muddled and rather oppressed by the growing season, coming across smudged and needing much more focus. The palate is underpinned by chewy tannins that feel a little dry, although it is redeemed by a splash of white pepper on the finish.

Cask sample. Dark crimson. Bright, energetic scent of poached blackberries. Sweet palate entry with pretty heavy impact on the palate. Very charming and rather forward. (JR)
