The 2018 Pommard Les Cras was late in finishing its malolactic fermentation, and the wine was still quite primary when I tasted it, exhibiting aromas of smoked meats, cassis and cherries as well as hints of forest floor. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with succulent acids and a penetrating finish.

Brooding earthy nose with a berry character and herb note suggestive of stems. Marked acidity stands out right now, with a slight fizz – perhaps still some malo to go? Chewy, but good length. Embryonic. (TJ)

The 2018 Pommard Les Cras finished its malolactic in October, a month prior to my tasting, and had recently been sulfured. It features crunchy red berry fruit, the one-third whole cluster lending a little pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins and good acidity, and lively in the mouth, leading to a slightly brittle but focused finish. Well crafted and quite intellectual for a village cru.
