Leading off the 2022s, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape is based on 50% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre, and 2% Muscardin that was brought up in very old barrels. Its deep ruby/plum hue is followed by a powerful nose of ripe black cherries, roasted garrigue, pepper, and graphite. This carries to a richly textured, medium to full-bodied Châteauneuf du Pape that has a broad, layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade.

Crafted from vines planted on a mix of galets roulés, calcareous and red sandstone soils, the La Gardine's 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape offers up aromas of spices, licorice, dark cherries and baked dark berries. Medium-bodied, round and supple, it has a juicy core of fruit but lacks density and richness for a Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This blend of 50% Grenache Noir, 28% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre and 2% Muscardin matured for 12 months in a mix of used barrels, stainless steel and concrete tanks.

Black cherry compote, thyme, licorice and ripe strawberry set the stage for the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a full-bodied and tightly structured red that requires at last three more years to come together.

The medium-bodied 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers licorice, ripe black cherry and thyme notes of moderate intensity. Round and refreshing, I would like to see the 2022 put on a little more weight during élevage.
