The 2017 Barbaresco Albesani is a rich, heady wine that very much reflects the south radiance of the year. Super-ripe dark red cherry, red plum, mocha, leather and licorice flesh out nicely. The 2017 is ample, ripe and forward, with enough tannin and structure to develop nicely in bottle for a number of years to come. Like so many 2017 Barbarescos, it is a bit light, especially on the mid palate.

Neive. Tasted blind. Mid to deep ruby. Still a bit closed on the nose with only hints of sweet-sour cherry and raspberry lifted by a touch of oak. Just a touch of dried fruit. Captivating, supple fruit-driven palate with finely grained tannins and plenty of juicy acidity. Great balance, and needs more time. (WS)
