Score 89/100 · Drink 2020-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020

The 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Les Vignes Franches is showing well from bottle, offering up aromas of red berries, cherries, woodsmoke and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent, it's charming and expressive, its ample core of sappy fruit framed by powdery tannins.

Dark berries, spice and iodine. Hints of dried fruit, too. Full-bodied, round and juicy with lovely fruit and round tannins. Flavorful finish. Delicious and decadent already. Hard not to drink now, but better in 2021.

Cask sample. Very charming, winning fruit on the nose. Fairly light bodied. But easy and flattering. Sweet. (JR)
