The 2021 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is another that has blossomed in barrel. It lacks the bandwidth and complexity of the best wines in this flight, though it seems well defined and focused. It does not quite nail the mineralité of its peers. The palate is taut and fresh, quite linear, more lime driven than others, though fresh and with a dash of cracked pepper that enlivens the finish. Moderate length. Give it another couple of years—this improves in the glass and gains intensity. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Very fine. Such elegance with lovely acidity and purity to balance the ripe stone-fruit flavours. Oak in very nice balance, together with flinty/stony characters keeping the palate fresh on the finish. Will be even better in 18–24 months. (AWH)
The 2021 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru has a tight nose like the Clos de la Velle, a bit unresponsive even with aeration. The palate is fresh and saline on the entry with Granny Smith, citrus peel and a fresh steely finish. Sure, there isn't length in situ, but it has energy.
