A certified organic wine, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Helichrysum opens to a blackish-garnet appearance and medium-rich concentration. The bouquet is immediately ripe and soft with dried or baked fruits and even a hint of marmalade. Those sun-drenched aromas fold into toasted spice, earth, wet clay and black olive. There is a hint of tonic astringency on the close, along with fresh acidity. Production is 6,700 bottles.

Certified organic by ICEA. Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Fine and subtle and a little subdued with just a suggestion of new oak. Succulent but tight, while the tannins are still unsettled. Very long and with hidden depth. Great interpretation of the vintage with plenty of youthful fruit as well as freshness, but much too young to approach. All Sturm und Drang right now. (WS)
