Score 87-89/100 · Drink 2020-2028, Neal Martin, Jan 2020

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet le Trezin comes from vines around 75 years old. Like the Saint-Aubin Village, it shows a little reduction, though not as severe. Hints of wild honey and orange blossom emerge from the nose, which is nicely defined if needing a little more mineralité. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry, with slightly edgy tannin. Displaying fine acidity and good tension to counter its richness, this has a slightly honeyed finish and a very long aftertaste. A bold Puligny that will probably drink sooner than the domaine’s other 2018s.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Le Trézin unfurls in the glass with scents of white flowers, fresh peach and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive palate that's tensile and chalky. That's quite typical of this sunny but high-altitude side.
