Score 94/100 · Drink 2021-2029, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Mar 2021

Hailing from clay-chalk soils, the 2019 Renaissance has been fermented and matured mostly in older 400-liter barrels (10% new), but it is the fruit and the terroir that speak, not the wood. The nose is fine and focused; you can expect aromas of talcum powder, violets and apple. An elegant wine, complex and layered, with a citrus/salty tang on the precise finish. The concentration is excellent, nodding to its serious intent. The mouthwatering acidity and hint of tannin tie this wine together, leaving you licking the inside of your cheeks on the finish. I'd love a smidgen more length as it's so tasty.
