Deep purple-hued, the 2023 Château Le Coteau Pélopée is a tiny-production, old-vine, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaux that spent 18 months in 100% new oak. It offers up cassis and blue fruits with vibrant violet and floral hints on the nose, and on the palate it's medium-bodied, with a focused, elegant, juicy mouthfeel and complex notes of spice and graphite. It's an outstanding Cabernet that will drink nicely for 15+ years. Drink 2026-2041.

The 2023 Hoplitis, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, is another terrific wine from Le Coteau. Floral and savory overtones lift a core of vibrant red-toned fruit in this mid-weight Margaux. Subtlety, nuance and understatement are the calling cards.

The 2023 Le Coteau has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, blueberry and iris flower scents, just a light estuarine influence in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly grainy tannins, a little savory in style with a nicely controlled, sapid finish. I can see this aging nicely in bottle.

The 2023 Hoplitis is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It shows terrific depth and plenty of character. Blue/purplish fruit, leather, licorice, espresso and lavender are front and center. The 2023 is a bit of a bruiser, but it has character.
