Pungent scents of lavender, rosemary, smoky black tea and citrus peel set the stage for a firm but subtly oily-textured, pithy, piquant palate performance. Abundant, bright juiciness of tangerine and lemon, along with the wine’s sense of alcoholic levity, ward off any impression of austerity, leading to a refreshingly sustained, multifaceted finish.

Light, glucose-ish nose. Rather tart on the palate. Not quite enough ripe fruit at its core. A bit disappointing. (JR)
2015 Niersteiner Pettenthal Riesling trocken GG opens like a great Riesling: pure, clear, bright and complex, with crushed stone, concentrated lemon and super ripe white fruit aromas. It also shows great finesse on the smoky/flinty nose. Piquant and vital on the first attack, this Pettenthal reveals an intense and mealy texture, a great elegance, and a rich and powerful finish with concentrated lemon and grapefruit flavors. The finish is long, persistent and stimulatingly salty. This full-bodied, silky and well-structured Riesling is another highlight in the KG 2015 portfolio; will probably turn out to be one of the great GGs of the vintage.
