75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Glossy black fruit, rounded and plush with a lovely modern ripeness. There is enough savoury finish to put this into Bordeaux. Silky texture, lovely balance and plenty of leathery notes on the length. Good, standard, gluggable claret. (RH)

The 2017 Puy-Blanquette has a pretty bouquet with crisp redcurrant and cranberry scents that almost seem to “pop” out of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, gentle and unprepossessing with just a tang of black pepper on the finish. Not bad for the vintage although it needs to show more ambition.
The 2017 Puy-Blanquet is quite dark and potent in this vintage, with plenty of dark cherry, plum, leather and spice character pushed into the foreground. Open-knit and seductive, the 2017 will drink well upon release. This is especially supple and voluptuous. Silky tannins and plush fruit add to the wine's racy personality.
Lost half their crop to the frost. 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Mid crimson. Light peppery nose. Super-fresh fruit with just a hint of coffee and oak sweetness. Sweet tannins, good balance, finely built. (JH)
