The 2021 Barbaresco is a gorgeous entry-level offering from Castello di Neive. Floral, lifted and gracious, the 2021 is a real charmer. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, mint, spice, licorice and orange peel all grace this understated, classy Barbaresco.

Neive. Just mid ruby. Aromatic red fruit but not entirely open on the nose and with savoury, saline touches. Juicy and shyly fragrant fruit that needs more time over a layer of powdery tannins that keep on going on the finish. Great balance but not ready yet. (WS)

The medium ruby/red 2021 Barbaresco is fresh and inviting with aromas of grenadine, raspberries, orange, mint, and fresh thyme. Elegant and medium-bodied, it continues with wonderfully fresh energy on the palate, revealing fine tannins, a fresh, even spine of acidity, a nice touch of citrus, and a clean, mineral-toned finish. I love the saline notes and freshness throughout. It’s very well done. Drink 2024-2034.
