Score 92/100 · Drink 2025-2045, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Jun 2025

From a very warm vintage, the radiant, golden-yellow 2023 Auslese Cuvée blends Welschriesling with Chardonnay and opens with a concentrated yet delicate and savory bouquet of apricots, white chocolate, salty caramel and lemon chutney. On the palate, this is a smooth and savory, intense and well-structured Auslese with remarkable finesse and a salivating finish. The wine reveals fine botrytis notes that add textural complexity. The finish is precise and saline. 9.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at Weinlaubenhof Kracher in Illmitz, Burgenland, in June 2025.

The 2022 Auslese Cuvée is a blend of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Welschriesling, with around a third of the fruit affected by botrytis. Smooth notes of ripe yellow plum are tender on the nose, showing a glimpse of clear honey. The palate is vividly sweet, reminiscent of Mirabelle jelly laced with lemon. It has a delicious smattering of white pepper on the finish. The finish is lasting, fresh and bright.
