The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru, which had been opened for 24 hours, is entering maturity on the nose, moving towards secondary walnut, beeswax and chamomile aromas. Very fine delineation. The palate is well-balanced with wonderful depth. This has opened beautifully since the previous day. Orange rind and hints of nougat appear on the tangy finish. Do not be afraid to give this a long decant based on this showing.
