The straight Châteauneuf du Pape is a classic effort that offers up notions of blackberry, black raspberry, garrigue and leather in a medium-bodied, fresh and focused package. Made from 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre, this is classic stuff to drink over the coming 7-8 years.
Deep ruby. Smoky cherry and dried flowers on the nose, with hints of black pepper and cured meat adding complexity. Deep, spice-accented cherry and dark berry flavors are enlivened by a mineral quality. Dusty tannins give grip to the persistent, gently chewy finish, which echoes the cherry and smoke notes.
