Tasting notes
Groffier is now separating his production of Les Amoureuses by soil type. From the southwest-facing slope, richer in clay, comes the 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Grâce des Argiles, a medium to full-bodied, dense and fleshy wine redolent of raspberries, cherries and licorice. Whether the "grace" evoked in the cuvée name is more a property of Les Amoureuses than it is of clay soils may remain an open question, but this bottling's tannins are indeed suave and refined.

The southern Amoureuses, from the Vougeot side of the vineyard, is showing very well in 2023. It is like the previous vintages– more complete, and perhaps fuller than the Amoureuses produced solely from the limestone top of the vineyard. This has very good intensity and concentration– great for collectors who are not mineral fanatics. A vin d’émotion. Different notes and flavours, but it works very well indeed. Drink from 2034.
