Light nose. Energy again and a solid wine that's a bit less obviously fruity than some of its peers. Is it an extraction or an oak thing? I'm not sure but the wine is just a little lower key than some earlier vintages. (JR)

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Argillières 1er Cru, which includes 30% whole bunch, has an intriguing bouquet: mainly dark berry fruit intermingled with mulch, white pepper and sea spray scents. There is fine delineation once again. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit and touches of sea salt, giving way to a quite marine-influenced finale with gentle grip. One of the more cerebral wines from Nuits Saint-Georges, the 2023 is cohesive—perhaps missing the audacity of the previous vintage yet certainly very well-crafted.
