A super example of this cuvée, Charbonniere's 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape features scents of sun-warmed stones and wonderfully ripe and varied cherries. It's full-bodied, ripe and velvety in feel, with a rich texture that remains supple and easy to drink.

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is composed of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre. The 2020 displays fragrant aromas of blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, crème de cassis and dried herbs. Tightly structured, full-bodied and layered, the ripe tannins are very well integrated into the wine, as is the 15.5% alcohol.

Looking at the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, it's a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 15% Mourvedre from all the estate's holdings. Ruby/plum-hued, with a great nose of black raspberries, new saddle leather, Provençal herbs, and Asian spices, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant, layered mouthfeel, perfect balance, and a great finish. It might be one of the finest examples of the base cuvée I've tasted.
