Quite unusual here: relatively late harvest (waiting for rain) and then grapes were destemmed and cooled to 8–10 °C for six to eight days. Just a little formulaic. I’m still looking for the soul of this 100% Gamay wine. And it’s pretty dry and uncompromising on the end. Definitely not a charmer, but then charm is not Grivot’s strong suit. (JR)

The 2018 Côteaux Bourguignon, which is 100% Gamay, offers plush cranberry, dark cherry and bergamot aromas on the nose. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, with good acidity, nice balance and veins of blue fruit toward the finish. Fine.
