A 2.2-ha site divided between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. 300- and 600-litre barrels, 8% new. Cask sample. Pale lemon. Rich aromas of apple, pear and peach. Medium-bodied with some depth and clean, pure, linear acidity. (MH)

The 2023 Meursault-Blagny La Pièce Sous Le Bois Cuvée 1950 1er Cru has a little more reduction on the nose than the regular cuvée—much stricter and nervier. The palate is well balanced and quite elegant in style, again with yellow fruit, though much less tropical in style. A spicy aftertaste wraps things up. There is good potential here.
A mix of their own vines and others. This has exactly the limestone feel to the nose that one hopes for, with elegance rather than too much of a stony feel, picked on 4th September, the first day of the real heatwave. Fuller finish, with plenty of energy.
