The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru was picked on September 12 with 30% whole cluster and 35% new oak. This is fragrant and floral on the nose, although the Les Malconsorts displays a little more complexity. The palate is quite muscular on the entry, a structured Echézeaux, though I am seeking a little more finesse and nuance on the finish. It is just a bit…stocky.

From the Champs Traversins sector. An elegant ruby, not the deepest, with some silky red fruit notes on the nose, finesse after the more brutal Clos Vougeot. This wine shows very well the Echezeaux characteristics of pinpoint detail, refined nuances in the fruit, and in this case the fruit has been picked at the right time and the structure supports it very nicely with refined tannins and correct acidity.
