The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru is a blend of young vines planted in 2018 and old vines that Mathilde Grivot speculated could be up to a century old. The last vintage exclusively from the old vines was 2015). It has a complex bouquet, with a mixture of red and black fruit, potpourri, crushed minerals and light sea spray scents that evoke images of the sea. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit. It's the spiciest of Grivot's NSGs, with commendable weight and impressive

A fullish strawberry red to crimson. A complex nose, slightly higher pH in style, not one of the densest and most robust Boudots. However, there is a very considerable volume of fruit which builds on the palate, and starts to bring darker fruit notes at the back, along with good acidity. A saline touch too. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Nov 2024.

Cask sample. Mid-pale ruby. Extra ripeness and expression in the cherry and strawberry fruit. Moderate, fresh acidity and a backbone of well-knit, soft tannins. Very good and worthwhile. (MH)
