Raspberry nose. But the fruit on the palate is tucked behind a mesh of slightly bitter, slightly dry tannins. Tannins which grow in length and in volume. A wine shaped by tannins, not fruit. Slightly gritty. Stone dust. A workout for the mouth, this one. (TC)

The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru is another cuvée that does not quite deliver the delineation and freshness of its peers, possibly a little late-picked or affected by the heatwave. The palate is actually better, with a pleasant granular texture and a subtle ferrous tincture. There is decent structure on the finish. It is just the nose that lets this down because the palate has potential.
