Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2028-2048, Neal Martin, Nov 2024

The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru was completely destemmed this year as Maxime Chuerlin found a little oidium in the vineyard and did not want to risk it. This is very composed on the nose with finely delineated dark berry fruit, undergrowth and light cigar smoke scents percolating through with time. The palate is well-defined with a fine bead of acidity, a little confit fruit in the mix and impressive weight with a touch of dark chocolate on the finish. Give this four or five years once bottled. It is a fine, quite gutsy Echézeaux.
