The 2023 Volnay Village opens in the glass with aromas of cherries, roasted meats and mushroomy humus, followed by a medium-bodied, tangy and somewhat angular palate. It isn't one of the high points of the range this year.

Cask sample. Mid ruby. Spiced cherry nose. Dry and restrained with quite abundant tannins on the palate and moderate, crisp acidity. Good balance but very young. (MH)

The 2023 Volnay Village is a blend of six parcels. It has a light, earthy nose, with gravel scents permeating red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip and a hint of allspice, as touches of blueberry develop in the glass. It cuts away just a little abruptly on the finish, but it may fill out during its second winter in barrel.
