The 2023 Marsannay Champs Saint-Etienne had just a slight reduction on the nose but there is plenty of black plum and cassis fruit packed in here. Tightly-wound at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth velvety texture, ripe and generous with a pastille-like purity on the finish. Very fine.

Cask sample. Mid-pale ruby. Red cherry and strawberry. Fragrant and quite floral. Bright, crunchy fruit. Elegant with a light, savoury character. Quite persistent tannins. Right to the finish, and beyond. (MH)
