The 2022 La Commanderie (the Pomerol estate) has a perfumed nose with black cherries, dark chocolate and cedar developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, a keen line of acidity and surprising crispness and tension on the finish. This might be the best vintage I have tasted from this estate.

The 2022 La Commanderie is better from bottle than it was en primeur . Bold and exuberant, with lovely forward fruit, La Commanderie has plenty to recommend it. Dark fruit, leather, espresso, lavender and dried herbs are front and center. I admire the wine's forward, inviting personality.
