Tasting notes
Score 87/100 · Drink 2007-2011, Robert Parker, Feb 2007

The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out lighter than I thought it would be, but it is pleasant and quite Provencal with notes of sweet cherries intermixed with spice box, licorice, and tobacco leaf. The wine is fruity, gamey, but somewhat superficial. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Importer: Simon N Cellars, Charlottesville, VA; tel. Fresh, frank nose. Bright cherry fruit. Fine sandy tannins and much less obvious alcohol than one normally finds in a Châteauneuf. Hint of coffee bean. Some might find this almost "light". (JR)

Dark red. Pungent and assertive, with scents of bitter cherry, tobacco leaf and wild herbs. Slow-building sweet red berry flavors are framed by dusty, slightly dry tannins. But the finishing impression is sweet and the aftertaste is juicy and persistent.
