Score 90-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018

(from a normal crop of about 35 hectoliters per hectare): Bright, dark red with ruby tones. Restrained aromas of dark berries and bitter chocolate. Sweeter and more concentrated than the Chaboeufs, offering expressive, slightly high-toned flavors of black fruits, licorice, violet and minerals. Still a bit youthfully chunky but more relaxed and expressive than the Confuron '16s from badly frosted vineyards. Finishes with a serious, broad dusting of tannins and lingering notes of violet and dark chocolate.

This is also reduced but less so. Otherwise there is more size, weight and power if less minerality to the medium weight plus flavors that possess a really lovely mouthfeel thanks to the abundance of dry extract that also buffers the moderately firm tannic spine on the impressively long finish. In 2016 this excellent effort is more Nuits than Vosne in style. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2018, 91-93
