The Federico Graziani 2019 Etna Rosso is a blend of fruit from the estate's principal site (Il Poggio) and Feudo di Mezzo in Passopisciaro. Following the philosophy behind classic Barolo (made with blends of Nebbiolo from various sites), Federico has not married into the single-vineyard approach. In fact, he celebrates the versatility that blends can make, especially as we face climate change. This is a beautifully light, almost weightless expression, with lifted red fruit and floral tones. The vines are all alberello (or bush-trained), and they are planted with equidistant spacing as a way of managing fungal diseases. Copper and sulfur are used at a bare minimum. This wine is 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio.

Pale ruby. Sweet start with masses of energy and life. Lots of fun! Enough fruit for the structure. (JR)
