Score 65/100 · Drink 2022, Neal Martin, Sep 2022

The 1992 Siran is light and leafy on the nose with dilute, earthy, red fruit. The palate is hard on the entry, clearly lacking much fruit. This is sour and ferrous towards its severely attenuated finish. Looking on the bright side, it’s not as wretched as the 1972. But only just. Any bottles should be approached with a long barge pole or excommunicated.

In the south of Margaux, this property has 36 hectares of vines. There’s an unusually large proportion of Petit Verdot (13%) in the vineyard, something which the team feels adds finesse, concentration and a spicy finish to the wine.
