Score 87/100 · Drink 2006-2010, Robert Parker, Oct 2006

The 2004 Shiraz will age nicely for ten years, but there is nothing distinctive about it. The 2002 Shiraz H. J. Reserve, from a 65-year-old vineyard, and aged 30 months in 100% new French oak, should reveal more character and individuality with another 3-4 years of bottle age. The Oliver family has been growing fruit in McLaren Vale for six generations. From their 300 acres of prime vineyards they fashion high quality Shiraz with good purity, perfumes, and textures, but no singular characteristic that makes them stand out from the crowd.
