Bright, dark red. As much black fruits as red on the nose, along with subtle complicating notes of iron, spices and underbrush. Pliant, rich and sweet, with slightly wild flavors of raspberry, tobacco and iron energized by saline minerality. The supple tannins of this very complete, long Pommard are totally buffered by concentrated fruit. This has the class and nuance of a top Côte de Nuits wine.

(less hail here; nine hectoliters per hectare produced): The darkest and most saturated of these 2013s in color. Deep, very ripe aromas of raspberry, spices and iron, plus hints of leather and underbrush. Compellingly sweet and ripe on the palate, with dark raspberry and soil notes dominating. A bit more primary and brisk today than the Grand Clos des Epenots, finishing with serious, more vertical tannins that avoid coming off as dry.
