A saturated ruby/magenta color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino needs some air initially on opening before starting show more pure aromatics of black raspberries, polished leather, lavender, and anise. Medium to full-bodied, it's very elegant through the palate, with ripe, supple tannins and an even, balanced richness and feel through its gently tapering finish, with more savory earth notes. It's a very well-styled Brunello with a lot to enjoy over the coming 10 years.

Lustrous mid ruby. Expressive lifted cherry with a black-pepper tingle and just a suggestion of oak. Mouth-filling cherry fruit with finely chiselled, very long, chewy tannins. Long, layered and a little dramatic. (WS)

The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is tightly coiled in its youthful state. Hints of mint, cedar and camphor complement notes of dried black cherries. It's expressive, silken and round on the palate with vividly ripe red and blue fruits that drench the senses in primary concentration. Brisk acidity keeps the mouth watering for more, even as fine-grained tannins saturate the palate. The 2020 finishes with dramatic length, leaving a tinge of slowly fading salted licorice and cocoa notes.
