Score 93/100 · Drink 2024-2034, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2024

The 2020 Rosso Di Montalcino is a rich ruby color with a magenta tinge and is highly spiced and aromatic with aromas of crushed cherries, toasted peppercorn, candied violets, and pine sap. The palate is supple, with a silky sheen, and although it’s medium-bodied, it has a luxurious rounded feel and remains ripe with sweet tannins. Expressive through its rather long finish, this impressive Rosso is going to show at its best over the coming 8-10 years.

The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is youthfully coy, as swirling unlocks mentholated herbs, red currants, wilted violets and wet stone. It soothes with its round and supple textures, smoothing over the palate with ripe red and blue fruits, all guided by juicy acidity. A staining of minerality forms toward the close. The 2020 finishes long yet remarkably fresh with a lavender tinge and framework of tannins that punctuate the experience beautifully.
