The 2017 Beau-Site has a rather closed and subdued nose at the moment. Perhaps it is just awkward after bottling? The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, moderate acidity, but it lacks some flair and personality on the finish. Drink over the next 5-6 years.

The 2017 Beau-Site, owned by Borie Manoux (Batailley, Trottevieille inter alia) was cropped at 49hl/ha. It has a pleasant raspberry and crushed strawberry bouquet with touches of sous-bois and bay leaf coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins and attractive black fruit but it just tails off a little prematurely when I would like to see more flesh and depth. Hopefully it will gain weight during barrel maturation.

The 2017 Beau-Site offers terrific density and breadth. Inky dark fruit, grilled herb and licorice flesh out in this resonant, pleasantly rustic Saint-Estèphe.

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Beau Site is medium garnet-purple colored with lovely notions of black raspberries, red and black cherries and mulberries with touches of underbrush and black truffles. The palate is medium-bodied, firm and chewy with a lively backbone and savory finish.
