Red fruits, dried herbs, leather, and some baking spice notes all emerge from the 2021 Château Saint Georges, a nicely balanced, charming, delicious red in the vintage that has integrated tannins and medium-bodied richness.

The 2021 St. Georges is an attractive, mid-weight wine to enjoy over the next handful of years. Crushed red berry fruit, flowers, mint and spice all grace this easygoing, perfumed 2021. St. Georges is not terribly complex, but it is quite easy to like.

Plenty of improvements over recent years at this estate, and it shows even in a challenging vintage like 2021. This has real balance and depth through the palate. Well textured, a swirl of smoky oak, with fresh redcurrant and raspberry fruits, with slate grip and lift. 33% new oak barrels for ageing, 50hl/h yield, high for the vintage because of the location of vineyard on an elevated location with plenty of air movements. Winemaking Jean-Philippe Janoueix. I didn't taste En Primeur and it is an enjoyable surprise to taste now in bottle. One to look out for.
