The 1997 Eclipse exhibits notes of camphor, kirsch liqueur, and black currant fruit intermixed with spice box, pepper, and earth. It is a full-bodied, beautifully textured, juicy, long wine that is close to full maturity, yet is capable of lasting another 5-10 years. This quartet of Noon wines all remain powerful, youthful, and impressive. Both vintages of the Eclipse (a blend of approximately 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah) are spectacular.

Saturated ruby. Black raspberry, game, eucalyptus and a note of red berry liqueur. Thick, sweet and highly concentrated, with sound supporting acidity keeping the flavors fresh. Really fills the mouth with dense, superripe fruit. Very long, palate-staining finish; the ripe tannins coat the entire palate. This is a big boy, but I would never have guessed the alcohol was 16+%.
