Score 93/100 · Drink 2011-2021, Robert Parker, Feb 2011

The 2009 Heirloom Proprietary Red is an old vine blend dominated by Zinfandel and Cairanne. Its deep purple color is followed by stunning aromas of pepper, incense, camphor, blueberries and blackberries. This full-bodied powerhouse is surprisingly graceful for its size and potency. Consume this big, meaty red over the next 8-10 years. Ravenwood’s renowned Joel Peterson must be proud of what his son, Morgan, has achieved with the Bedrock Wine Company in such a short period of time. These wines continue to provide super-impressive quality at realistic prices. Moreover, they tend to be creative blends that should invite more and more California winemakers to go down this path rather than sticking to single varietals. Tel. (707) 364-8763
