If you like big, but not massive syrah reds, then this bold and ripe wine could be for you. A ton of ripe blackberries and the full body are balanced by supple tannins and a discreet twist of tartness that keeps the finish rather bright. Drink now.

The base 2016 Fracture is another flat-out awesome wine from Jenson that has everything you could want from a Syrah grown on limestone soils on the west side of Paso Robles. Made from 100% Syrah aged in 70% new French oak, it offers a huge nose of blackcurrants, toasty oak, espresso, smoke tobacco, and crushed flowers. Deep, massively concentrated, and textured, it still glides across the palate with thrilling purity of fruit and has a great, great finish. Eric Jensen’s Booker Vineyards continues to make a ripe, sexy, pedal-to-the-metal syle of wine and these latest 2016s don’t disappoint.

Made of 100% Syrah aged 18 months in 70% new French oak, the 2016 Syrah Fracture is deep garnet-purple colored, opening with exuberant notes of crushed blackberries, black cherries and cassis with hints of asphalt, star anise, truffles and mossy bark. Full, firm and with a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins, it has tons of taut, muscular fruit, finishing long and mineral tinged.
