Score 94/100 · Drink 2019-2034, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2019

From the Castillon region located east of Saint-Emilion, the 2016 Clos Louie is a killer, old vine selection of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Malbec, aged in 70% new French oak, that comes from the talents of Claude Gros. Possessing incredible limestone character as well as beautiful red fruits (black cherries, raspberries), incense, and cedar, this medium to full-bodied effort develops a thrilling floral character with time in the glass, is elegant and seamless on the palate, and has a great finish. Drink it any time over the coming 10-15 years.

Malo not yet completed. Real depth and interest here. Rich and lively with lovely texture. So interesting on the palate with real nervosity. Dry end. Exciting wine with impressive persistence. (JR)
