Score 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2004

Lemon-yellow color with a green tinge. Aromas of lemon, clove, butterscotch and stone. Juicy and tightly wound, with dry, steely, minerally flavors of noteworthy purity. Brisk acids contribute to the wine's characteristic Chablis-like quality. Dry and youthful on the finish. This needs a couple years of additional aging.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2003-2008, Robert Parker, Dec 2003

The light gold-colored 2001 Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard offers a perfumed nose of buttered popcorn and honeysuckle along with medium to full body and a pure, nicely textured, long finish. It should drink well for 4-5 years. Tel. (707) 823-5603; Fax (707) 823-6709

About the producer

Kistler 1:1
Kistler

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
