Score 95/100 · Drink 2024-2039, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Jan 2023

The 2019 Malbec Marchiori Estate, from Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, was 48% aged in new barrels and 52% in second-use vessels. Purple in the glass. The spicy nose offers stock and plum jam hints, along with chutney, smoke, geranium, tobacco and wood over a bed of pastry. Broad and creamy with a precise freshness that maintains the energy. The tannins are velvety and voluminous. This is a flavorful, mature wine.

So floral and perfumed with purple fruit, mushrooms and stems. Full, rich and round, but with a line of tannins and bright acidity running through the center-palate. Superb finish. 60-year-old vines. Give this three or four years of bottle age.
