Sleek and polished, with an herbal, green olive edge to the earthy currant, coffee and sage flavors. A solid value that offers complex, concentrated flavors, with a long, persistent finish.

The soft, supple, easygoing 1999 Napanook (70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 13% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot) exhibits cherry, earth, leather, and foresty aromas, sweet fruit, and a forward personality. It is best consumed over the next decade. Tel. (707) 944-8954; Fax (707) 944-0547

Deep red. Roasted strawberry, mocha and spicy oak on the nose, with complicating hints of tobacco, currant leaf and game. Sweet and spicy in the mouth, with slightly roasted yet cool flavors of spicy red fruits, tobacco and caramel. Offers lovely verve, very fine tannins and noteworthy persistence. This has turned out nicely, but still needs some time in bottle to harmonize.
