Pale yellow-gold. Exotic aromas of apricot, honey, marzipan, clove and nutty oak; this almost smells like a botrytis wine. Then supple and large-scaled, showing more leesy butterscotch and resiny character today than fresh fruit. A big boy, but I wanted more lift. Finishes quite honeyed and a bit tannic, with good persistence.

Score 91/100 · Drink 2006-2011, Robert Parker, Dec 2006

The 2004 Chardonnay Bacigalupi Vineyard spent 18 months in French oak, of which 60% was new. The aromatics have diminished since I tasted this wine last year, but it reveals notions of creme brulee, honeyed citrus, lemon oil, and subtle spicy wood. This medium-bodied Chardonnay should drink well for 3-5 years. Previously recommended: 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (91+), 2003 Oakville Estate (93+). Tel. (707) 944-8577; Fax (707) 944-2823
