Score 95/100 · Drink 2014-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2012

The 2009 Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch reveals a dark, brooding mélange of black cherries, menthol, tar, licorice and spices. This is a decidedly powerful, masculine Pinot. It shows tremendous depth, and muscle, with marvelous balance of bouquet, fruit and structure, all in the classic Martinelli style. This cold site in Green Valley is early to flower and late to ripen.

This cold site in Green Valley is early to flower and late to ripen. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Martinelli is one of the original pioneering families in Sonoma. I tasted a wide range of wines during a recent visit. The 2008 Syrahs, from a challenging vintage, are a bit up and down, but the rest of the wines are all outstanding. As always, these are fairly bold, extroverted wines, but their overall balance is typically superb. Tel. (707) 525-0570

Deep red. Seductive, highly perfumed aromas of black raspberry, cherry-cola, smoky herbs and rose. Lush and creamy but energetic, offering sweet dark berry flavors, a hint of fruitcake and good back-end snap. Blends richness and vivacity smoothly and finishes with lingering sweetness and an echo of candied rose.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
