Score 94/100 · Drink 2005-2013, Robert Parker, Aug 2005

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2003 Pinot Noir Rincon Vineyard (6,370 bottles produced) possesses a meaty/beef blood-like character in addition to its impressively pure, deep, floral, sweet cherry and raspberry notes. Velvety-textured and seamless, it offers a beautiful display of fruit with subtle wood, decent acidity, and a long, 40-second finish. This is an elegant, authoritatively rich Pinot Noir to consume over the next 5-8 years. Kudos to the Talley family for its impressive dedication to high quality wines. Tel. (805) 489-0446

Full red-ruby color. Rather wild aromas of blueberry, blackberry, plum, cola, brown spices and meat. Sweet, dense and lush, with roasted dark raspberry and spiceflavors. Not yet complex but offers very good life and thrust. This shows a lighter touch than the Rosemary's today, even though it's normally the latter wine that's more feminine in style. Finishes with dusty tannins and chocolatey ripeness. The spiciness of this wine comes from the inclusion of 15% to 20% whole berries, says winemaker Rasmussen.
