Score 93/100 · Drink 2005-2012, Robert Parker, Dec 2005

The 2003 Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille reveals a slightly greenish hue to its medium straw color. More tightly knit than its siblings, with more minerality as well as full, powerful, nearly tannic flavors, it is a rich, concentrated wine made from a south-facing hillside vineyard. It should age nicely for 5-7 years. Tel. (707) 942-3200; Fax (707) 942-0209

(Morlet notes that these young vines are already beginning to become a source for the Point Rouge blend) Deeply pitched aromas of dried apricot, baked apple and vanillin oak, with a suggestion of tropical fruits. Broad and dry in the middle palate and not yet expressing itself. A bit edgy and phenolic on the finish, with slightly aggressive alcohol. Morlet says this is better than the 2002, but today it's very closed.
